ENJOYING THEIR MOMENT
IN THE SUN

...beauty marks and moles have often been in vogue, but freckles and tanned skin only began to appear in fashion in the 1920's, when designers, like Coco Chanel, promoted sportswear as a badge of leisure class.
ACCORDING TO MYTH
...the gods in Babylon were so enamored of the Gaelic people, they wished to set them apart from other sons of man. They sprinkled them in a fine dust to create "bricini", or "little stars", and a map of the universe was created upon the Irish people.
Unfortunately the actual explanation behind these captivating marks of beauty is far less romantic . . . The truth is, freckles are nothing more than a mutation in the MCR1 variant gene, which can occur in any ethnicity. Instead of tanning evenly when exposed to sunlight, the skin of freckled folks produces an uneven distribution of melanin in a splash of dots and speckles.
... we often relate freckles with summer and childhood, but recently, freckles have been enjoying a renewed popularity in fashion. Those lucky to have these "angel kisses" are flaunting them and those without are devising ingenious ways to draw, paint, sticker, glitter and even tattoo them on.
While we don't advise tattooing them, creating natural, temporary freckles can be easily created by applying brown face paint to a bristled brush and strategically flicking the pigment onto your face. For adventurous folks, glitter freckles are a flashier way create speckles that sparkle!
For those lucky enough to be born with constellations in their skin,
enjoy your day in the sun as we enjoy star-gazing upon them!
